Faculty honors
Congratulations to the following YIBS Affiliates on their recent achievements and awards honoring the contributions made to their respective fields of study!
For his contributions to the field of geodynamics:
- Dave Bercovici, Frederick William Beinecke Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences, was awarded the Augustus Love Medal by the European Geosciences Union.
Three YIBS Affiliates were included on the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list for 2021:
- Menachem Elimelech, Sterling Professor of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Professor in the School of the Environment
- Walter Jetz, Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and of Environment
- Noah Planavsky, Associate Professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences
The following early career colleagues have been recognized in their fields:
- Martha Muñoz, Assistant Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, won the George A. Bartholomew Award from the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology.
- Noah Planavsky, Associate Professor of Earth & Planetary Sciences, was named a 2021 National Finalist in the Physical Science & Engineering category for the Blavatnik Awards for Young Scientists.
- Lidya Tarhan, Assistant Professor of Earth and Planetary Science was awarded the Donath Medal, given to a young scientist for outstanding achievement by the Geological Society of America.
Two YIBS colleagues have been elected to academic organizations and academies or have been named to leadership roles:
- Michael Donoghue, Sterling Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Professor of Forestry and Environmental Studies (and Former YIBS Director), was appointed President of the Botanical Society of America.
- Menachem Elimelech, Sterling Professor of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and Professor in the School of the Environment, has been elected as a member of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering (ATSE).
